Sapthaswarangal
Before, I get into this topic, I should say I am not happy with my previous posts. For the past one week, I have been posting blogs that contained more material aspects rather than focussing on posts that deal with social and philosophical aspects. So the forthcoming series of posts would focus more on these aspects.
Now coming on to the topic..Have you guys been watching Sun TV's sapthaswarangal for the past few months? They have this contest between colleges..I was not a great fan of Sapthaswarangal (as I felt it was quite monotonous) till I watched an episode featuring Crescent Engg College. This was few months back..and this college is simply amazing..Today their semi-final was telecasted. Their lead singer Priya is awesome. Her voice is just out of the world! They are in the semi-final stage just because of her awesome singing backed up with great orchestra. In the preliminaries, she sang "minsara poove" from Padayappa and "poo malai" from Thanga magan - and ho boy, what a performance!! She would definitely give all our current singers a run for their money! And today she comes up with an absolute stunner with the remix version of "janani, janani". I have recorded all the episodes featuring her and shall try to upload it for you guys to view it. Dont miss the final part of the semi-finals next week! Crescent Engg College rocks!

I have been getting loads of SPAMs..so I have updated my comments section with the word verification part..sorry for the inconvenience caused! :)
oh yeah.. i need to block spam too.hmm
i was an ardent fan of Sapthaswarangal till Ramanan left the show. Actually even after the Director - Subashree Thanikachalam left Sn TV, the program went dull. After Ramanan left the program was crap.
but looks like the competition between colleges are heating up..and sapthaswarangal getting popular again. lets see... BTW, do upload them.
SapthaswarangaL...it has been an year since I watched TV!!
Dear Arjuna..
Nice 2 find u slowly coming back to posting on wat ur best at..:)
janani, janani is one of the best of ilayarajas. just gonna keep my fingers crossed till u upload the files since u said its a remix version..remix versions are most often screwed up..:)
Hi,
My dad is a great fan of these singing competitions! He watches every single episode of these programmes!
Waiting for your upcoming posts with philosophcial moorings!
our very own chinmayi was a talent discovered thru sapthasvarangal.. indeed a good programme to bring out young talents :-) and will check out the crescent engg coll episode..
..p..
Keerthi - yes Ramanan was very good..this new guy is OK..btw did u watch the programmes I mentioned?
agnibharathi - that is a SIN ;)
Krishna - I dont think it is that janani by IR..It has almost the same lyrics..but the song is really good! Awesome one!! I will definitely try uploading it by this weekend..
Adi - sure, I shall post more philosophical content in the forthcoming posts..
priya - I didnt know abt chinmayi's discovery..I knew Karthik was found thru Sapthaswarangal..yeah do watch it..
hey,
Im a crescent alumni. Though not a great singer, I was a good singer. i ve performed in college culturals. good to know that my college is rocking ;) i cant see sun tv here in chicago :( keep posting the updates ;)
arunja
Chinmayi was also sapthaswarangals discovery.
Many people watched her took notice of her talent.
I also prefer A V Ramanan over T S Ranganathan. IMO the program has lost its glory....time to repackage it.
lxsn - sure - I will try getting those videos for you to see :) - btw - do u still have contacts in ur college?
ganesh - fine..I didnt know that :)
kaps - yeah A.V.R was better than this new guy..
There are many singers got noticed after participating in Sapthaswarangal...Ranjith, Haricharan and some more who sang for few songs and didnt get a luck!
There is a program aired by JayaTV on Sunday morning 'Ragamalika' directed by Subashree Thanikachalam and it is picking up well!!!
sundaresan - yeah I know haricharan was one of them..I have seen him singing..Ragamalika is good..I forgot the anchor's name :(..the one who acts in mannavi..
Know what: Priya, Haricharan, subhiksha Rangarajan, all took training for this national level competition for Ghazals and Light Music from my mom.. though they dont acknowledge it much, me is glad that they are coming up.. we used to frequent some important competitions and all of us are separated by a couple of years. Feels good!
And yeah my break happened through Saptaswarangal. Srinivas was my judge and he took me across to Rahman anna and the very first 'scratch' of a film song and the only ever, was KMI and it went on to become my first song :)
Chinmayai - thanks a lot for popping in and letting us know the info :)..
I am very happy that Priya learnt from ur mother! :)
