My Best Friend
In the past 3 days, I have seen humpteen number of threads on friendship in several blogs. I have a few close friends and I guess this is the right time to introduce a very special friend of mine who is like a brother to me. I am very close to him. He is very helpful. He is very religious. Comes with me to all the temples. Along with me, he has circumbulated the Arunachala Mountain 3 times. He loves the philosophy of Advaita. We have visited Puttaparthy and had dharshan of Bhagwan Sathya Sai Baba several times. He helps and participates in all the "homams" we have in our house.
So what is so special about him? There are many guys like him, you may ask :) - Check out my first comment to know why he is very special! Let me know your views on my special friend. Its very important to have people like him in this society!

His name is MOHAMMED YUSUF, a devout Muslim! He was my driver and now he is in Saudi! I really miss him a lot!

surprised to find a devout muslim who accepts stuff from other religions..:).
we can only hope ppl from all over the world ,be it christian, hindu, budhist or watever get 2 know abt and benefited from this universal religion of Advaita..
Krishna - well said :)..I dont think he will read it - but I will let him know if I speak to him over the phone..I
I guess Yousuf is doing great in Saudi! Convey my regards, if you talk to him. He is definitely a nice friend. I guess he remembers me still!? - we met when he came to trichy!
Seems to be a nice guy!!!
good that you had a nice friend.
But 'tolerant muslim' or 'tolerant christian' by itself is a misnomer. Either they can be only truly tolerant or truly religious. Not the both.
Tamil - yes he still remembers you - what a time we had isnt it? :)
ioiio - yes he is a very nice and friendly guy :)
tj - I may not agree with you on that since yusuf is very religious - he does his Namaz properly but still respects our religion!
thats really nice to hear..
thanks Chakra :)
Thats nice to hear Arjun, but my personal feeling is we should not be binded by any particular religion, learn about all the different paths and finally practice that where our heart feels at home.
Be a follower of that path, but never claim that it is the best.
It may look like, i am talking in a tangent but there is a reason.
I hope u get what i am trying to say.
Aatma - the concept of Advaita is not based on any religion :) - It is an universal concept - infact Jesus who was saying that he is the Son of God - finally claimed during his crucification that "I and My Father are One" - which is nothing but the concept of Advaita :)..I respect all religions - but do not respect any evil ideologies even if its in Hinduism!
